Opel Frontera Gravel: the electric adventure car will be on show at the XS Carnight Wörthersee.
German carmaker Opel has announced a new Frontera Gravel concept based on the production Opel Frontera electric car. The novelty will make its first public appearance on 30 May in front of a community of car fans at the XS Carnight event at Lake Wörthersee in Austria.
Here's What We Know
The Frontera Gravel is an off-road adapted version of the electric crossover. The concept was created by Opel in cooperation with the tuning studio BlackFish and XS.
Admittedly, this version looks spectacular: the off-road potential is emphasised by massive BF Goodrich tyres on 16-inch Borbet CWE rims, a winch on the front bumper and a Thule roof rack. Additional spotlights are mounted on the external boot, with another headlight placed on the bonnet. There are external bins at the rear of the vehicle for storing gear.
The body is painted in a sandy brown Desert Stone shade, which contrasts with the matte black bonnet and roof. Orange accents on the mirrors, bumpers, roof and Opel emblem emphasise the model's adventurous spirit. The interior features seats with bright orange microfibre trim. The ceiling is completely black.
Rebecca Reinermann, vice president of marketing for Opel and Vauxhall, said that the Frontera Gravel is intended to ignite Opel's fanbase, as well as test demand for a bolder and more rugged Frontera in the future. Thus, the possibility of a production version of the Frontera with off-road design elements cannot be ruled out. Probably a little less radical, though.
The XS Carnight Festival on Lake Wörthersee is a mixture of vehicle exhibitions and car-related public events, attracting crowds of tuning enthusiasts to the city of Klagenfurt. It will take place from 28 May to 1 June.
