Samsung is actively developing augmented reality (AR) technologies. Their new virtual reality headset, codenamed Project Moohan, has recently appeared in the Geekbench database.

Here's What We Know

This confirms that the device is powered by a powerful Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, designed specifically for XR applications.

In Geekbench tests, the headset (model SM-I610) showed good results - 990 points in single-core and 2453 in multi-core modes. This indicates sufficient performance for comfortable work with virtual and augmented reality. The device has 16 GB of RAM and runs Android 14, probably in the form of a specialised version of Android XR, which Google will announce at I/O 2025.

The Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor has six high-performance CPU cores and Adreno 740 graphics - the same as in top smartphones - to ensure high-quality graphics and smooth operation. The chip supports new features, including a high-quality real-world display in the headset, fast Wi-Fi 7 Internet connectivity, and special technologies for better virtual reality.

In addition to Project Moohan, Samsung is working on other XR devices, including smartphones (projects Haean and Jinju). The exact release date of the headset is still unknown, but its appearance in Geekbench indicates that the release is approaching. Perhaps more information will be revealed at the upcoming Unpacked event.

The team of the SamMobile portal found information that in addition to Project Moohan, Samsung is working on its own controllers for this device.
