Samsung has officially launched the One UI 8 beta programme based on Android 16. Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra users in South Korea, the US, Germany, and the UK will be the first to test the new shell. The beta version is expected to be available in other regions soon.

What's new in One UI 8

One UI 8 promises significant improvements in artificial intelligence and user experience. In particular, it introduces multimodal capabilities that allow for a more natural interaction with the device, adapted UX for different form factors, and personalised recommendations that take into account the context of use.

The One UI 8 update is not just about artificial intelligence. Among the new features is Auracast technology (based on Bluetooth LE Audio), which allows multiple users to easily connect to a shared audio stream by scanning a QR code.

Another useful change is the simplified service in service centres. Thanks to QR codes or NFC, support is now available directly through Samsung Account: registration without paper forms reduces waiting times and makes the service more convenient.

The Reminder app has also been updated, which is now useful when travelling. You can manage all your to-dos in one interface. You can share your to-do list with your family with a single tap, and add new reminders by voice - when, for example, both hands are busy with shopping.

The Quick Share feature has also been revamped to make sharing files even faster with a single tap in the Quick Settings panel. One UI 8 will also include new features such as Audio Brief, a personalised daily audio summary, and an updated weather app with 3D avatars that respond to weather conditions.

Users can join the beta programme through the Samsung Members app, where a sign-up option is available. After confirmation of participation, the update can be downloaded through the device settings.

Context.

One UI 8 is expected to become the standard shell for Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, which are scheduled to be launched in the summer of 2025. This demonstrates the company's commitment to providing users with the latest software solutions alongside hardware innovations.

Samsung officially introduced the previous version of the interface - One UI 7 - on 7 April 2025. On that day, the update became available for the flagship models of the Galaxy S24 series, as well as Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. Gradually, the firmware will be rolled out to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy S23, S23 FE, Fold5, Flip5, Tab S10, and Tab S9 series.
