A few days ago Valve made its SteamOS operating system officially available on third-party handheld consoles. And the first to take advantage of this opportunity were Lenovo Legion Go S users.

YouTube-blogger Dave2D tested SteamOS and compared its work with the version on Windows 11 and the result was predictable.

Here's What We Know

SteamOS has been adapted to portable consoles for many years, so it fits them much better than Windows 11, as Dave2D's study confirmed.

Lenovo's console on SteamOS performs 5-15% better depending on the game. The only exception where Windows 11 performed better was Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

In terms of charge consumption, Valve's OS does much better than Microsoft's software. On average, Legion Go S with SteamOS holds the charge 2-3 times longer. Thus, at low load the gadget on Windows 11 discharged in 2.75 hours, and on SteamOS - in 6 hours. At the same time at high load the difference becomes less - 1h 31min. vs. 1h 54min. This difference is possible due to the fact that SteamOS loads the system much less and does not include unnecessary functionality.

Most likely, the same picture will be on other consoles.
