The series of unconventional news about Apple's activities in the context of the gaming industry continues.

We have already reported that the American giant has acquired a game studio for the first time in its own history, and now it seems to be clear why it was done.

Here's What We Know

Authoritative insider and journalist Bloomberg Mark Gurman reported that Apple is preparing to replace Game Centre with a new application for video games on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. The announcement is likely to be made at the WWDC25 conference on 9 June.

Foodie writes:

Apple will pre-install the app on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV later this year. The software will serve as a launcher for games and centralise game achievements, leaderboards, communication and other activities.

The insider notes that in terms of functionality, the new app will be similar to the Xbox App for iPhone and will exist separately from Game Centre and possibly Apple Arcade.

Recall, this is not the first time when such information appears: back in autumn 2024 portal 9to5Mac reported that Apple is working on a separate from the App Store game shop for iPhone and other devices. Apparently, we're talking about the same app.
