Here's What We Know

Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov announced the signing of a €2.2 billion contract with German company Diehl Defence. The agreement provides for the localised production of IRIS-T air defence systems and missiles.

In addition, during a meeting with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, a letter of intent was signed to finance hundreds of millions of euros worth of Ukrainian long-range vehicles.

Germany is also investing in the purchase of Ukrainian-made medical equipment. According to Umerov, Berlin has pledged to support investments in the domestic defence industry and encourage others to do so.

In short, on 28 May, the parties signed a memorandum on financing the production of long-range weapons in Ukraine. In addition to the previously announced deliveries of artillery shells in 2025, Ukraine will receive additional packages of ammunition, in particular for air defence systems.
