Chinese company Honor, which has long established itself as a manufacturer of excellent smartphones, decided not to limit itself to mobile gadgets and announced the entry into the market of humanoid robots.

Here's What We Know

Honor has partially revealed its five-year Alpha plan, under which it plans to invest $10bn to create an artificial intelligence-based ecosystem and release its own humanoid robots.

The company has already shown early successes in robotics by partnering with Chinese startup Unitree, which recently hosted the world's first robot kickboxing tournament.

Thanks to Honor's AI algorithms, Unitree's robot was able to reach a speed of 4 metres per second, which is a world record for this type of robot and almost twice the average speed of an adult human.

Going forward, Honor plans to develop technologies for propulsion systems, biomechanical systems and safe robot-human interaction and hopes that it is their robots that will improve people's daily lives as well as find applications in industry.
