Twitch adds vertical mode, 1440p and rewind feature
The Twitch platform is preparing for updates that will make streaming even more comfortable and modern. At the TwitchCon Europe conference, CEO Dan Clancy announced the launch of several new features.
Here's What We Know
Firstly, Twitch will add support for the vertical mode of game broadcasting. Previously, this format was available only for short clips and IRL streams (streams about everyday life), but now gamers will be able to broadcast in portrait mode.
What is even more interesting is that content creators will be able to broadcast in both horizontal and vertical formats. Viewers will be able to choose which view they prefer. The first tests of the new feature will start this summer on a limited number of channels, and access will be expanded later.
Another important new feature is support for 1440p (2K) quality. This will allow you to watch your favourite games with a clearer picture. For this purpose, Twitch will use the modern HEVC codec, which provides better quality at lower internet speeds. The feature is currently in open beta testing for partners and affiliated streamers. And the platform's Enhanced Broadcasting technology automatically adjusts the viewer's resolution.
And finally, the rewind function. If you missed a part of the broadcast, you will soon be able to go back and watch what you missed. It will also be tested this summer with a small group of viewers.
