Don't expect any other games from CD Projekt Red besides AAA RPGs, because the studio has found its niche and doesn't want to deviate from the course

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED has announced the final update that will add support for cross-platform mods. At the same time, the studio shared its plans for the future, emphasising the importance of focusing on its "niche" - large, story-driven RPGs with an open world.

Here's What We Know

As part of the latest issue of AnsweRED, CD Projekt RED co-founder Marcin Iwinski spoke about the lessons the studio has learnt over the years. "We have learnt to be as focused as possible and not to get scattered by a lot of ideas that we want to implement, but it doesn't always work," he explained. According to him, it is important to "focus on what we are really good at and put all our energy into it".

This view was echoed by Adam Badowski, co-CEO. "We are developing AAA RPGs with an open world and a strong narrative - this is our niche, and this is what we are focusing on," he said.

Iwinski added that this is not always easy, especially when there are many interesting ideas and projects around that grab attention. "When you grow up, there are temptations to get distracted, but you need to take a deep breath and get back to your business. If we get scattered, we won't be able to produce a quality product."

The studio recently announced that Project Orion has entered pre-production.

The Witcher 4 is also in the works. Although a cinematic trailer was shown at The Game Awards 2024, details about the release date, platforms, and gameplay have not yet been disclosed.
