With the official confirmation of the new PlayStation State of Play show taking place today, 4 June, speculation has been running rampant as to whether the long-awaited new God of War game set in Greece will be revealed. However, the latest rumours suggest that it will not be the "big 3D adventure" we are expecting.

Here's What We Know

Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming and Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb said that the show will feature a 2.5D Metroidvania game, not a large-scale 3D project. Henderson claims that the game "seems to be much smaller in scale than I originally thought".

As a Metroidvania, it will probably be comparable to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which received positive reviews.

Rumours of a new God of War game set in Ancient Greece have been circulating for some time now, and it is due out later this year.

Officially, the State of Play on 4 June will last just over 40 minutes and will feature news and updates on the games that are headlining the PlayStation 5.
