Get ready for a new explosion in the world of free-to-play shooters. The creators of Splitgate 2, an arena shooter with portals, have not only announced the official release date but also intrigued fans with a "massive surprise" that will be revealed at Summer Game Fest. This means that very soon we will get the full version of the game and find out what the developer 1047 Games has in store for us.

Here's What We Know

The game is currently in open beta testing, but it will be fully launched on 6 June 2025 - the day when Jeff Keely's Summer Game Fest show starts. This is a good strategic step to attract attention, as Embar has already done it with The Finals.

The developer 1047 Games also promises a "massive surprise" that will be revealed during the presentation. What exactly it will be is anyone's guess, but the press release describes it as the "biggest part" of Splitgate 2.

Currently, the game includes various multiplayer battle modes with a lot of weapons and cosmetic items to unlock, a battle pass to level up - in short, everything we expect from a modern free-to-play shooter. The game also has a map editor that allows you to create your own levels and modes.

This big surprise seems to add an important component to the game, and we will find out what it is on 6 June. In the meantime, the team has released a cinematic trailer that ends with a hint of the aforementioned surprise.
