Ubisoft's silence: for the first time in five years, the gaming giant will not hold its own presentation, but will still show games
This June, the company will not hold its annual Ubisoft Forward presentation for the first time since 2020. Instead, the French giant plans to showcase its new products at other major events such as Summer Game Fest and PC Gaming Show.
Here's What We Know
"We are always eager to communicate with our players and showcase our games," Ubisoft representative told Game File's Stephen Totilo. "We continue to explore opportunities to share updates and look forward to providing more information at a later date." This general statement, however, does not reveal the real reasons for abandoning its own show.
It is not surprising to hear that Ubisoft will not have a separate presentation as it recently announced the delay of several upcoming games. The company didn't name any of them specifically when it revealed the news during its latest earnings report. Delays of this magnitude undoubtedly affect marketing plans and may be one of the reasons for the absence of Ubisoft Forward.
Ubisoft did reveal an approximate timeframe for when players will see the new games, and it looks like the releases will come during fiscal years 2026-2027 - from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 - including the long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time by March 2026.
As part of its efforts to reduce costs during a challenging 2025, Ubisoft has made significant changes to its organisation. The company has created a new specialised subsidiary to focus on its Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six franchises, with Tencent investing USD 1.25 billion in a minority stake in this new initiative. There have also been massive layoffs and studio closures at Ubisoft, resulting in the loss of 185 jobs and the closure of XDefiant.
