Today is an important day for the entire gaming industry: sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 handheld console have started.
Analysts do not doubt the success of the gadget and believe that its initial sales will be the best in the history of consoles.
Here's What We Know
In honour of the event, Nintendo has released a spectacular promotional video that reminds us of the main features of the Switch 2.
The gadget will offer:
- a larger screen with a resolution of 1080p in portable mode and 4K in the dock (upscaling);
- HDR support, VRR and frame rates up to 120 FPS;
- new Joy-Con 2 controllers that attach easily with magnetic connectors and can act as a mouse;
- new exclusives, including Mario Kart World, and an extensive library of compatible Nintendo Switch games.
Nintendo and third-party studios have also put together an extensive launch line-up of games, including Civilisation VII, Cyberpunk 2077 and a host of other hits.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at €470 in Europe and $450 in the US, but major US retailers have recently reported cancelled pre-orders, which could indicate supply issues.
