Employees of the Year: GameStop "punctured" Nintendo Switch 2 screens with a stapler while trying to attach a receipt
The long-awaited launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in the US has turned into a nightmare for some fans. Unfortunate gamers who queued for hours in GameStop stores to be among the first to receive the new console discovered that their screens were damaged... by the staplers used to attach receipts to the box.
Here's What We Know
In an attempt to recreate the classic console launch atmosphere, GameStop organised parties at midnight on 4 June in the United States.
Fans queuing up at GameStop thought they were about to pick up a console. What they didn't expect, however, were holes in their screens.
Angry Switch 2 owners took to social media to voice their complaints about the damaged Nintendo Switch 2 screens due to GameStop stapling the receipt to the box, which punctured the screen.
User Rudeboy, shared: "My Switch 2 has staple holes in the screen. They stapled a receipt to the box."
A second user posted an image with evidence that his screen had staple holes due to a receipt on the box.
These are just two examples, and other owners have likely experienced the same problem. Nintendo and GameStop have not yet responded to these incidents. It also remains unclear whether the owners will receive a refund for the damaged system.
