Vivo X Fold 5 can be submerged up to 3 metres and folded 1000 times underwater (video)
Vivo has officially launched the advertising campaign for its new folding smartphone X Fold 5 in China. When unfolded, the phone is even thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro.
Here's What We Know
Vivo has confirmed that the X Fold 5 will be the world's first foldable smartphone with triple protection against water, dust and drops. The device received IP5X dust protection - last year's model did not have this rating at all. The smartphone also complies with the IPX8 standard, which allows it to be immersed in water to a depth of 3 metres, which is more than the Galaxy Fold 6 (1.5 metres).

What's more, the X Fold 5 even has IPX9 protection against high water pressure and IPX9+. Vivo claims that the smartphone can be folded underwater at a depth of up to 1 metre at least 1000 times.
In terms of specs, the model will have a 6.53-inch LTPO display and an 8.03-inch 2K+ AMOLED screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
Power is provided by a 6000 mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 30W wireless charging. The main camera is a triple camera developed in collaboration with Zeiss: 50 MP Sony IMX921 main sensor, 50 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP periscope sensor with 3x zoom. The front cameras are 32 MP on each screen.
