Aston Martin has launched a racing Valkyrie for ordinary (but very rich) customers
A week before its return to the big races at Le Mans, Aston Martin has revealed a new version of its V12-powered Valkyrie supercar. The model is called Valkyrie LM - in fact, it is a customer version of the car that will participate in the legendary 24-hour race. Only without the racing restrictions.
Here's What We Know
Only 10 examples will be produced. The Valkyrie LM will have the same frame and body as the car that will be lapping the Le Mans circuit on 14 June. Under the bonnet is an identical double wishbone suspension with torsion springs, plus adjustable dampers. The engine is Cosworth's 6.5-litre V12, paired to a seven-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters.
But there's an important difference. According to FIA regulations, cars for the WEC and IMSA championships have restrictions on weight and electronic aids. The "civilian" LM has no restrictions. Theoretically, the new version should be even faster than racing cars, simply because it is lighter.
Aston Martin engineers and designers have redesigned the cockpit for more relaxed use on track days. There are FIA-standard six-point belts and a fire suppression system, a carbon fibre bucket seat, an integrated driver display and, of course, gear shift indicators.
Valkyrie LM buyers will be able to fully own their cars. But if you're the kind of person who prefers to arrive and race around the track straight away, Aston Martin will offer an all-inclusive programme. The company will take care of transport and technical support. On request it is even possible to order theoretical and practical lessons with coaches-pilots.
Aston Martin plans to start the first deliveries in the second quarter of 2026. Later that year, the company will invite all 10 owners to a "special evening" at its headquarters in Gaydon, England. There will be a gourmet dinner.
The price of the Valkyrie LM is not disclosed, but it's sure to be not insignificant. The regular Aston Martin Valkyrie costs $3.2 million.
