The head of the 007 franchise at IOI has recently revealed new gameplay details of 007: First Light, explaining that the game will be more like a spy thriller than a regular action shooter.

Here's What We Know

During an interview with GamesRadar+, Jonathan Lacaille, the head of the 007 franchise at IO, spoke about how they balance the gameplay to combine the studio's signature style with a James Bond-centric story. Lakaille revealed that they are building on "what IO does best" while adding new elements that will "really bring the full Bond experience". However, he also noted that in 007 First Light, they won't be able to "tell the full story of who Bond is", which leaves room for future instalments.

Lakaille discusses all the new features that 007: First Light will have that were not present in the Hitman series. The first feature is vehicle control, which the developers have never done before. The next thing added to 007: First Light is shooting, which will be a big part of the game. However, the developers don't want players to go through the game just "shooting and shooting" and aim to provide players with many "tools to feel as smart as Bond" in the upcoming game.

The game will be released in 2026 on PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.
