OpenAI has reached $10 billion in annual revenue thanks to the popularity of ChatGPT
OpenAI, the developer of the ultra-popular ChatGPT, has announced that its Annual Run Rate revenue has reached $10bn, almost double the December 2024 figure of $5.5bn.

Such rapid growth is attributed to the increasing popularity of ChatGPT, which is heavily used by both private users and businesses. According to the company, OpenAI had 500 million weekly active users and 3 million enterprise customers at the end of March 2025.
OpenAI also plans to raise up to $40bn in a new round of funding led by SoftBank Group. This could increase the company's valuation to $300bn.
Despite significant financial success, OpenAI posted a $5 billion loss last year. However, the current growth rate puts the company well on its way to its goal of $12.7 billion in annual revenue in 2025.
This success underscores OpenAI's leadership in artificial intelligence, especially against the backdrop of competitors like Anthropic, whose annual revenue recently surpassed $3 billion.
