US startup challenges Cadillac for the title of most luxurious electric car
Dacora Motors has unveiled a luxury electric car designed by Italian studio Pininfarina. The car is inspired by the design of the 1930s and looks quite unusual.
Here's What We Know
The car remotely resembles a Volkswagen Beetle. It has round headlights and convex fenders. Ground clearance is 19 cm - almost like a crossover. Rear wheels are hidden under fairings.

The interior is wood, wool and eco-leather. Digital screens hide behind wooden panels when not needed. The company promises a modular interior that can be changed seasonally - wool upholstery in winter, linen in summer.
Dacora offers different interior configurations - from 3 to 7 seats. In Executive version there are three armchairs and a workplace in the back. In Lounge there are four "captain's" chairs with consoles between them. The consoles can contain a cigar humidor, a coffee machine or even a bonsai garden under a glass dome.

Specifications are vague. Dacora promises more than 800 horsepower, a range of about 640 kilometres and acceleration to 96 km/h in less than 4 seconds. At the same time the weight is almost 3 tonnes. A hybrid version is also planned.
The cars will be assembled manually in New York. The price starts from 500 thousand dollars - 160 thousand more expensive than Cadillac Celestiq. Pre-orders are available for a $50,000 deposit.
The company claims that pre-orders are already 150 per cent above the planned first-year volume. However, it doesn't give figures.
