Fiat is developing a "Multipla-inspired" model to compete with the Dacia Bigster
Fiat is developing a new C-Class SUV that will appear in 2027 as a competitor to the Dacia Bigster. The novelty should inherit the spirit of the iconic Multipla compact van, but the name could be different.
Here's What We Know
The SUV will be one of two new Fiat C-Class models. Both are based on the Panda-inspired concepts shown last year. The second will be an elevated hatchback in the vein of the Tipo.
The successor to the Multipla will not exceed 4.5 metres in length. The car is being built on the Stellantis Smart Car platform, also used in the Grande Panda. This platform allows the installation of hybrid and all-electric powertrains.

The original 1998 Fiat Multipla was a 4-metre compact minivan with two rows of three seats and a controversial design. The model did not achieve commercial success, but became one of the most memorable in the history of the Italian brand because of its unusual appearance and elaborate interior.

Fiat representatives told Autocar that the new SUV will get a more traditional design in the same vein as the new Grande Panda, but may replicate the Multipla's approach to maximising the use of interior space. Design director François Leboine has promised to utilise the brand's historical heritage without fixating on retro styling.
