More and more global brands are releasing foldable smartphones, but statistics show that they are of little interest to buyers.

Here's What We Know

The analytical agency Counterpoint published the results of the research of the European market of foldable smartphones at the end of the first quarter and they turned out to be disappointing.

Sales of foldable gadgets since the beginning of 2025 have grown by only 4%, and in relation to sales of all smartphones their share is only 1.5% - this is catastrophically low for the profitability of production of such devices.

Probably, such low interest is due to the high cost of foldable smartphones and in the doubts of potential buyers in their reliability.

Analysts stated that the leader in sales of foldable smartphones in Europe remains Samsung, although the company's share fell from 56% to 41% over the year. In second place is Motorola, which, by contrast, has seen its share of the overall market rise from 10% to 15%, with sales up 58% largely due to the successful launch of its budget Razr 50 range.

Honor has 13% market share but saw sales fall 23%, while Google has 8% market share and 265% growth.

Next is Xiaomi with 8%, which a year ago was not in the lead at all and Tecno with the same 8% and 336% growth.
