Tesla has announced another update to the Model S and Model X. Both models have become more expensive, heavier and slower.

Here's What We Know

Tesla Model X AND Model S received a softer suspension thanks to new components. Tesla claims a quieter cabin - less wind and road noise, improved active noise cancellation system. There's multi-colour lighting in the front fascia, on the sides of the centre console, in the front and rear door panels. LED lighting in the footwell and door pockets can now be not only white, but also change colour at the request of passengers.

They also added adaptive headlights, new wheel designs and tweaked the exterior for better aerodynamics. There's a new Frost Blue body colour and a front camera with washer. The Model X gets an extra 70 litres of luggage space and room for third row passengers.

All versions of the updated EVs went up in price by $5000 in the US. The base Model S All-Wheel Drive with a range of 660 kilometres now costs $86,630. The Model S Plaid with a top speed of 240 km/h (previously 320 km/h) will cost $101,630. But the Plaid's range has increased from 560 to 590 kilometres.

The Model X All-Wheel Drive starts at $91,630 with a range of up to 566 km (60 km more), while the Model X Plaid costs $106,630 and travels up to 539 km on a single charge (34 km more). The top speed of the X Plaid is unchanged, but the weight has increased by 83kg to 2,465kg. The steering wheel, which used to be standard on the Model S and Model X, has now been removed from base versions and is only offered as a $1000 option for Plaid versions.
