Star duo: Dune: Awakening and Stellar Blade conquer Steam, setting new records for simultaneous players
The long-awaited Dune: Awakening and Stellar Blade on PC have made a splash on Steam, setting staggering records for the number of simultaneous players this weekend. Both games, which were released almost without any problems, have already proved their success by the number of players who have immersed themselves in their worlds.
Here's What We Know
Dune: Awakening, which was released on 10 June, and Stellar Blade, which made its long-awaited PC debut on 11 June, both launched with relatively few problems. Their success is underlined by the number of players who dove into the games over the weekend. At the time of writing, Dune: Awakening has reached a record peak of 175,500 simultaneous players and Stellar Blade has reached 192,000!
This puts both games in the top ten most visited games of the weekend, behind only giants like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, Dota 2 and Apex Legends.
Within hours of its release, Stellar Blade became the most successful single-player PlayStation game on PC by the number of simultaneous players. For comparison, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered has a peak player count of 66,436, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition - 56,557, The Last of Us Part 1 - 36,496, and its sequel, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered - 30,690. Only Helldivers 2 attracted more players at the same time, but it is, of course, a multiplayer game.
Dune: Awakening quickly surpassed 142,000 simultaneous players on Steam upon release, quickly surpassing the peak set during the five-day early access period for those who purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate editions. Within hours of its full launch, it surpassed 113,000 players and currently holds an all-time record of 175,000.
These records confirm that quality games, even new IPs, can attract a huge audience and become real hits.
