Hades II has received a huge content update that ends early access support for the game
Supergiant Games continues to work hard on the development of roguelike action game Hades II and is actively preparing it for early access.
The authors presented the next major update, which significantly changes the game mechanics and adds a lot of new content.
Here's What We Know
The Unseen Update will be the last content patch before the release of Hades II 1.0. The list of changes numbers several hundred items, but we will only report the main innovations:
- each weapon of Melinoa has received one secret aspect;
- the gods of Olympus have equipped the heroine with new spells;
- new challenges from each of the Guardians in "Oath of the Unseen";
- new dialogues and scenes with various characters were added;
- the game's art design was enriched with a large number of visual compositions;
- Narcissus has his own sprite;
- new musical compositions were added.
In The Unseen Update the authors have significantly revised the balance of all mechanics, items, spells and weapons. Battles will become even more dynamic and interesting.
The full list of changes can be viewed on the game's Steam page, but the developers have released an audio retelling of the update (this idea could be used by other studios!):
Supergiant Games is optimistic about the future and promises that a full release of Hades II will be coming very soon, with even more interesting content coming to the game.
After more than a year of supporting the game in Early Access, we are starting to prepare for the launch of version 1.0! We are moving into the final phase of Hades II development, which includes adding the true story ending and other finishing touches. Please note that we don't have an exact release date yet. We promise to share details as soon as we can.
After releasing minor hotfixes for the latest content update to fix any issues that have arisen, we will be focusing on the following elements:
1. The True Ending. The ending of Princess Melinoa's story is the main new feature coming in version 1.0. We have no plans for additional regions, random encounters, abilities, etc.
2. Achievements. Since the structure of the game will remain largely unchanged from now on, we will add achieves ahead of the full release. By the way, you won't need to start the game from the beginning to unlock any achievements.
3. Finishing touches. We continue to polish and refine all the realised content in Hades II - from gifts and abilities to the artwork and story events.This last phase of game development can be crucial, so we're taking it seriously and appreciate your continued support. As we complete the Early Access phase, we intend to release the biggest, most replayable, and most detail-rich game in our studio's history. And, most importantly, we are working hard to make it a worthy successor to the original Hades.
We have a big game to complete! While we can't yet say exactly when the 1.0 release date will be, we're very excited to get closer to that point and share our experience with you. It also means that some of the most important work is yet to come, so may the moonlight guide us! And to all of our Early Access players - thank you for being here and sharing your impressions of the fresh update with us.
Upon full release, Hades II will only be available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
