Battlefield 2042 and Mass Effect come together in an unexpected crossover: the online shooter adds themed skins and a temporary mode
Online shooter Battlefield 2042 has received a major update 8.9.0, which brings a crossover with the cult sci-fi franchise Mass Effect to the game. Despite the difference in genres and setting, EA decided to merge its two flagship series by adding elements inspired by Commander Shepard's universe to the shooter.
Here's What We Know
Three themed bundles have been made available to players across all platforms: the Galactic Bundle, the Scoped Dropped Bundle, and the combined Citadel Bundle. They offer N7 armour, Citadel-inspired weapon looks, the legendary Mako skin for the APC, and Garrus Vakarian-inspired costumes. In addition, there's a temporary Conquest Ascension mode with new mechanics such as the ability to crawl when critically wounded and watch your squad after being killed.
The content will be available until 1 July, and apparently this move is aimed at reviving interest in both series, especially against the backdrop of the development of the new Mass Effect and preparations for the announcement of Battlefield (2025).
