Marathon is preparing for a closed playtest: Bungie hones upcoming shooter after early feedback
Fans of the upcoming PvP shooter Marathon by Bungie (the creators of Destiny and Halo), get ready for a new stage of testing. The developers are actively working on their new project and will hold a closed playtest called Marathon Closed Playtest 1 this month. This is a chance for selected players to dive back into the world of Marathon, and for Bungie to hone the game and make it better, taking into account the previous negative feedback.
Here's What We Know
This playtest is intended for players who have already participated in the Closed Alpha. It's worth noting that the Closed Alpha received mixed reviews: players praised the game's potential, but also pointed out the lack of some important features, such as voice proxy chat, improved visuals, and revised game cycles. In response, Bungie has decided to postpone the game's release, which was originally scheduled for September 2025, to allow more time for development and additional closed playtests.
The upcoming playtest is scheduled for 27-29 June, with a daily access window of 2-6pm Pacific Time. Participants are required to fill out a survey, sign an updated non-disclosure agreement (NDA), and share their feedback in special private Discord channels. This underlines the seriousness of Bungie's approach to player feedback.
