Xiaomi is preparing to unveil a global update to its HyperOS shell interface. The new design promises to be the most noticeable change in recent years and, according to insiders, will be inspired by the Liquid Glass aesthetic, which will debut in new versions of operating systems from Apple.

Here's What We Know

Among the key new features are redesigned app icons with more rounded and colourful shapes, transparent elements and a "glass" blur effect (Glass UI). The standard search bar on the home screen will also disappear, giving way to widgets and icons. System indicators have been updated, and animations will become much smoother and more responsive, even on mid-range devices.

HyperOS 3 will be based on Android 16, but some models will remain on Android 15. The update will launch in autumn 2025 in China, and will start rolling out in Europe and Latin America near the end of the year.

The UI update will emphasise Xiaomi's commitment to not just catching up with the competition, but also shaping its own style focused on modernity and user comfort.
