Honda will voluntarily recall approximately 259,000 Honda and Acura brand vehicles in the U.S. to inspect brake pedal assemblies. Following the inspection, dealers will replace the brake pedal assembly, if necessary, at no cost to the owner.

Here's What We Know

The recall applies to the following models for the U.S. market:

  • Honda Pilot 2023-2025 model years
  • Acura MDX 2023-2025
  • Acura TLX 2021-2025

Due to a supplier manufacturing error, the brake pedal pivot pin may be loose, causing the pedal to move laterally out of the operating position. In such a case, the risk of unintentionally depressing and stopping the vehicle increases. This, in turn, can lead to an accident. The problem can also cause an "abnormal brake pedal feel during operation," illuminate the malfunction indicator light on the dashboard, or cause the vehicle's brake lights to remain on even when the brake pedal is not depressed.

American Honda has not received any confirmed reports of accidents or injuries related to this problem. However, the recall campaign will still take place.
