Nissan told Carscoops that "the Leaf visualiser on consumer website NissanUSA.com was initially launched with incorrect images.

Here's What We Know

Let's go back a few days. Almost immediately after the official presentation of the third-generation Leaf electric car, the model's configurator went live on Nissan's US website. As we reported earlier, three configurations were shown there: Leaf S+, Leaf SV+ and Leaf Platinum+. The most noticeable difference between the first two was the taillights and boot door without the stylish black insert as on the top kit car from the presentation photos.

Now Nissan has explained that it's not that bad: "all kits will have a black rear panel (as in the photo above), but the integrated holographic rear lights in a black panel are only available on the Platinum+ trim." We're talking about the extended 3D-effect LED lights, which have additional sections on the fifth door. In cheaper packages, the lights are also original, but have a less "premium" look.

The 2026 model year Nissan Leaf is expected to go on sale in the US in autumn 2025. The car will then be gradually rolled out to other markets, including Europe, Japan and Australia. U.S. pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.
