This year's EA Sports College Football 26 doesn't just add thousands of new plays and gameplay enhancements. The developers have focused on significantly increasing authenticity and immersion, promising visual and atmospheric enhancements that will literally transport you to the field. Design Director Christian Brandt revealed some of these exciting new features, including improved lighting and dynamic time of day.

Here's What We Know

The game takes realism to the next level with regional time of day. As Brandt notes: "A 6pm kickoff in Chestnut Hill will look different than a 6pm kickoff in Austin, reflecting the unique lighting of each location." This means that you will experience a difference in lighting depending on where the game is taking place, which adds incredible depth to the visuals.

In addition, there will be seasonal time of day, where days end earlier in months like November than in September. This makes the atmosphere even more dynamic and realistic, reflecting the natural changes during the season.

Team exit ceremonies are another important area of improvement. They will now change. "Epic Runouts will include light shows, drones and other production elements for high-stakes games. You can expect unique light shows for teams such as Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, NC State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Texas State, UCF, Boston College, Notre Dame, Rutgers and UCLA, with each show being tailored to their colours and identity.

In addition to the Epic Runouts, there will also be Standard Runouts, which also offer plenty of pomp, Quick Runouts and Road to Glory Runouts. The latter offer "a more personal view where you are actually in the tunnel exit before running down the field". In this case, the camera is controlled by the player, allowing you to look at the crowd with the right stick, fully immersing yourself in the emotions of the moment.

And if all this is not enough, the list of mascots has been significantly expanded, with dozens of new ones joining it.

EA Sports College Football 26 is out on 10 July for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
