Samsung has announced that starting in July 2025, Galaxy smartphone owners will be able to use Samsung Wallet to control their Mercedes-Benz cars - locking, unlocking and starting the car without a physical key.

The feature is available for Mercedes-Benz models that support a digital key. The smartphone becomes a full-fledged key substitute: the car recognises the device as it approaches it using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) or NFC technology. Not only can you use the key, but you can also share it securely with family and friends, restricting access as needed.

How it works

  • The digital key is stored in Samsung Wallet and is protected by the EAL6+ security standard and the Samsung Knox platform.
  • If the smartphone is lost, the key can be deleted or blocked using the Samsung Find service.
  • Access to the car requires biometrics or a PIN code.
