Vivo has unveiled the foldable flagship X Fold 5, the first Android smartphone to integrate Apple gadgets
Vivo has officially unveiled the X Fold 5 - the lightest and most protected foldable smartphone on the market. The novelty weighs only 217 grams and has a thickness of 9.2 mm when folded, which makes it a record-breaker among foldable devices.
Here's What We Know
The Vivo X Fold 5 features two LTPO AMOLED displays: the external one is 6.53″ and the internal one is 8.03″, both with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is responsible for performance, while power is provided by a 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.
The smartphone gets three 50MP modules with ZEISS optics: the main camera (Sony IMX921), an ultra-wide-angle camera and a periscope with 3x zoom, while the front cameras on both screens are 20MP each.
The device offers advanced protection ratings of IP5X against dust, IPX8 and IPX9+ against water, as well as resistance to extreme temperatures down to -20 °C.
The main feature of the X Fold 5 is its integration with the Apple ecosystem: the smartphone supports Apple Watch, AirPods and can even be used as a second screen for Macs. This is the first Android smartphone with such deep compatibility.
Sales of the X Fold 5 will start on 2 July in China, priced (in RMB terms) at $975 for the 12/256GB version and $1325 for the top-end 16/1TB configuration.
The global release of the Vivo X Fold 5 is expected on 10 July 2025.
