Streaming is not for kids: YouTube introduces new rules for live streaming with age restrictions from July
Google has made changes to the rules for live streaming on YouTube.
Here's What We Know
From 22 July, only users over the age of 16 will be able to start streaming, and children aged 13-15 will only be allowed to stream in the presence of adults. Children under the age of 13 will not be allowed to live stream at all.
The updated rules were posted on the YouTube Help support page:
... live broadcasts involving children who are not accompanied by an adult may result in the chat being disabled, and the account may temporarily lose access to chat or other features.
The new rules raise many questions, most notably how age will be controlled or, for example, who is the adult who is around the child. YouTube is likely to provide further clarification soon.
