Scandal. Trump Mobile has removed the "Made in America" inscription from the website of its golden smartphone
Another bit of techno-comedy straight from the Trump office. The T1 Phone smartphone, proudly announced as "Made in the America", suddenly... stopped being so. Now there is an inscription "American-Proud Design".
What we know
Instead of the proud "Made in the USA", there are now much more vague phrases like "Designed with American values in mind" or "American hands behind every device". It sounds nice, but it means absolutely nothing. It could be a single manager in Texas who approved the box colours. It is quite obvious that a smartphone made in the US cannot cost the promised $500, because the costs in the country are much higher than those of production in China. Therefore, this statement was as completely populist as all of Trump's election promises. At best, it is about ODM production of a smartphone to order by Trump Mobile.
But that is not all. Remember the 6.78-inch AMOLED display? Forget it. The website now says 6.25 inches. And the RAM? It was 12 GB, but now they are completely silent about it - not a word. Apparently, it is also "made by the hands of Americans", but it is still on the way somewhere.
Delivery times have also become... more flexible. Previously, they promised to ship in September, but now they modestly say "later this year". That is... well, whenever.
And just so you don't get discouraged, the famous crookedly photoshopped render of the smartphone is still there. This is the only thing that remains unchanged in this project.
Actually, Trump Mobile hasn't given any comments yet. Perhaps they are also being redesigned in the "American-proud" style.
Briefly:
- There is no longer any mention of "Made in America".
- Instead, there are abstract phrases about American values
- Reduced the screen from 6.78 to 6.25 inches
- 12 GB of RAM was simply removed from the specifications
- Deliveries - "later this year" instead of September
