The release that fans of classic Immersive sim games have been waiting for for a long time - System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is out.

Here's What We Know

The updated version of the famous 1999 game is already available on PC in all digital shops and is receiving excellent reviews. Critics consider this remaster to be "the best opportunity to familiarise yourself with a video game classic", as it offers small improvements to graphics and visual effects, as well as adapting System Shock 2 to modern platforms, while the developers have not made significant changes to gameplay mechanics, leaving them as close to the original as possible.

There aren't many reviews on Opencritic yet, but the average score is 84 with 89% of recommendations.

Critics say the remaster is done to the same high standard as the remake of the first System Shock (2023) instalment. By the way, those who pre-ordered it will get System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster for free as a bonus.

So far System Shock 2 remaster is available only on PC, as Nightdive Studios has encountered unforeseen difficulties and is forced to postpone the release of the game on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The exact release date for the console versions is not yet named by the authors, but they promise to meet within the first half of July.
