German carmaker Audi has brought interactive gaming entertainment directly into cars with the integration of its AirConsole platform, specially developed for vehicles. Passengers can now play together on the MMI centre touchscreen display or on the MMI passenger display in models that support the feature.

Here's What We Know

Passengers can play various games directly via the centre infotainment system. In vehicles with the MMI Passenger Display, several games are available even while travelling, as the dynamic privacy mode ensures that distracting content is not visible to the driver while the vehicle is in motion. Smartphones are used as game controllers - you need to scan a QR code to connect them.

AirConsole is already available in some cars via the Audi Application Store. This currently applies to the Audi A5, Audi Q5, Audi A6, Audi A6 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron models.

The list of AirConsole games is constantly expanding. At the moment, there are various skill and party games, including classics such as UNO Car Party! and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire by Mattel. An exclusive for Audi until the end of 2025 will be the Pictionary Car Party game.

We would like to add that Audi is not the first car company to integrate AirConsole into its products. BMW Group's BMW and MINI brands were the pioneers. And even earlier, in 2019, the games appeared on the screens of Tesla cars. The company's own Tesla Arcade platform supports more graphically heavy games and works with controllers for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. What's more, in some racing simulators, you can control the virtual car using the steering wheel of a real Tesla car when it's parked.
