Windows won't be the same: the iconic blue "screen of death" has been replaced by a gloomy black notification
Microsoft has confirmed that the upcoming Windows 11 update, due out in July, will drop the blue "screen of death" that has marked the beginning of computer problems for forty years.
Here's What We Know
Now the message about the problem with Windows will be displayed on a black background without the sad smiley face and QR code. Instead of them the error code and the problematic system driver will be displayed, and the general design will be close to the standard Windows 11 update screen.
Microsoft believes that this solution will give users more information about problems with their computer, making it quicker and easier to fix.
It's really an attempt to clarify and provide more detailed information and allow us and customers to really get to the root of the problem so we can fix it faster. Part of it is just providing clearer information about exactly what went wrong [in the Windows experience].
