Anker has initiated a voluntary global recall of five portable battery models due to a potential risk of overheating and fire caused by a defect in the lithium-ion batteries. Owners are advised to immediately stop using the affected devices. Anker had previously recalled another model, the PowerCore 10,000 (A1263), in June 2025 following reports of overheating and fire. More than 1.1 million units were recalled then.

Which models are affected by the recall

The problem affects the following models sold through various online and offline channels, including Amazon:

ModelDevice name
A1257 Anker Power Bank (10,000 mAh, 22.5W)
A1647 Anker Power Bank (20 000 mAh, 22.5 W, USB-C)
A1652 Anker MagGo Power Bank (10 000 mAh, 7.5 W)
A1681 Anker Zolo Power Bank (20,000 mAh, 30W, USB-C + Lightning)
A1689 Anker Zolo Power Bank (20,000 mAh, 30W, USB-C)

The serial numbers of the affected devices can be found on the device case or packaging. You can check if your device is affected by the recall on the official programme page.

Reason for the recall

During an internal review, it was determined that a certain batch of batteries from a third-party supplier may be overheating. This poses a potential fire risk, especially when used or charged for long periods of time. While the number of confirmed incidents remains limited, the company has decided to issue a recall to ensure consumer safety.

What to do if you have one of Anker's powerbanks

  1. Find the model and serial number on the device
  2. Go to the Anker website and check if your device is subject to a recall.
  3. Fill in the form, get confirmation of your entitlement to a replacement or refund
  4. Take the device to a specialised hazardous waste collection centre.
