Do you remember when you were a child and dreamed of flying to work, avoiding traffic jams not on the opposite side of the road but in the sky? Well, the Kuickwheel Skyrider X6 is not a prototype or a concept for an exhibition. This is a real vehicle - a hybrid of a motorcycle and a drone that turns fantasies from old films about the future into reality.

What we know

The Kuickwheel Skyrider X6 is a flying tricycle with an atypical wheel arrangement: two wheels at the back and one at the front. This format provides a balance between stability on the road and manoeuvrability in flight. The body is made of carbon fibre and aluminium alloys - lightweight, durable and looks like it came from a SpaceX hangar.

When the driver decides that he is suddenly tired of gravity, large rotors unfold from the body, which put the Skyrider in vertical take-off mode. The cockpit is closed. No helmets, no mosquitoes in your teeth, and no rain on your skin. The feeling is closer to a car, but with the adrenaline of a bike and a look from science fiction.

What about the technical capabilities? There is a 10.5 kWh battery.

It lasts for 200 km on the ground and 20 minutes in the air.

It can be charged using conventional car fast chargers, and you can also quickly change the battery. Plus protection against overheating, shock and other "pleasures" of life.

The security system is a separate song. On board are lidars, radars, cameras, autopilot, and even an emergency parachute in case something goes wrong (or you suddenly realise that it's not Elon Musk at the wheel). The controls have several levels of redundancy, and the landing can be automated - everything for calm nerves, even for beginners.

The first buyer and the price

The Skyrider X6 made its debut on 16 June on the JD.com platform, where the bike was put up for auction. After 4 hours and 54 rounds of bidding, the flying motorcycle went under the hammer for 427,300 yuan, which is about $60,000.

Kuickwheel has officially stated that this premiere was not just a show for the public, but a real step towards the commercialisation of personal aircraft. The company positions the Skyrider X6 as a solution to urban congestion and a new level of mobility - from asphalt to sky.

According to the developers, in the coming years, such bikes will become more accessible to a wider range of users. The gradual development of technology and a mature market can turn this story from entertainment for the rich into a part of everyday urban transport.
