Amazon has announced that it will shut down its Freevee streaming service August 2025. In its place, all content, including original shows with adverts, will be available directly through Prime Video - and even without a subscription.

Here's What We Know

Users have started receiving notifications in the Freevee app: it won't be available from August 2025. The entire library - from Freevee Originals to films, series and live TV - will be available in Prime Video in the "Watch for Free" section, without having to pay for a subscription, but with ads

Amazon announced plans back in November 2024 to shut down the Freevee brand and move content to Prime Video. Now a specific date: August 2025 will end the era of the standalone app.

Freevee, formerly known as IMDb TV, debuted in 2019 and changed its name to Freevee in 2022. It was available in the US, UK, Germany, and Austria and offered both licensed content and its own original shows - like Jury Duty, Bosch: Legacy, Neighbours, and more. Many of these are already available on Prime Video.
