What's the best game on Steam? No, not Elden Ring, not RDR 2 and not Cyberpunk 2077 - the answer should be found in the indie games segment.

Here's What We Know

According to Steam stats, the highest-rated game right now is Stardew Valley, a cute indie farm simulator created by lone developer Eric Barone back in 2016. The game is one of the most successful projects by independent developers, it has tremendous popularity and player support and is still receiving major updates.

Stardew Valley beat out such popular games as Portal 2 and Terraria, which made it into the top 10, as well as, for example, Baldur's Gate 3, Half-Life and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which, for all their awesomeness, didn't make it into the top 10.

Stardew Valley has an approval rating of 98.4% based on nearly 900,000 reviews!

Steam's top 10 most highly rated games:

  4. People Playground
  5. Left 4 Dead 2
  6. Vampire Survivors
  7. Hades

  9. Schedule 1
  10. Portal.

By the way, out of ten games in the top six are indie projects (Stardew Valley, Terraria, People Playground, Vampire Survivors, Hades and Schedule 1).
