Insider Detective Seeds, who has a mixed reputation but still, for example, correctly named the release window of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster, has shared some interesting rumours about the PlayStation 6.

Here's What We Know

The informant, citing "a Sony engineer familiar with the matter," said that the company plans to unveil the next-generation PlayStation console in 2028, with sales to begin in autumn or early 2029.

The first developers are expected to start receiving devkits (working prototypes of the PS6) in the spring of 2026, at the same time that the PS5 Pro will feature improved upscaling technology developed by Sony and AMD.

Sony has previously released new consoles at 7-8 year intervals, but this time it will be at least 9 years between the PS5 and PS6 and Detective Seeds attributes this to the problematic launch of the PS5, which coincided with the height of the coronavirus pandemic, which prevented them from producing enough consoles to avoid a shortage.
