Nissan and Infiniti have delayed the launch of two electric SUVs by almost a year
Nissan Motor has informed suppliers that it has postponed the launch of two new electric SUVs that were planned to be produced at its plant in Canton, Mississippi, USA. According to Automotive News, the release of the models has been delayed by ten months.
Here's What We Know
Series production of Nissan's domestic PZ1K model is now scheduled to begin in November 2028, while the technically close Infiniti PZ1J is due to hit the assembly line in March 2029.
In an official statement, the company confirmed the schedule adjustment:
"We have taken the strategic decision to slightly adjust the launch dates for electric vehicles at the Canton plant. Our goal is to produce competitive vehicles that meet customer expectations."

Both models were announced earlier. Nissan said it is preparing an "adventure SUV", which is scheduled for release by the end of fiscal 2027. The Infiniti-branded model, modelled on the Vision QXe concept car, was due in 2028.
Nissan Motor has previously scrapped several EV projects, including electric sedans under the Nissan and Infiniti brands, as well as a subcompact crossover that would have been placed a notch below the Rogue/X-Trail in the lineup.
