BYD added Level 4 automatic parking to God's Eye and promised to compensate in case of an accident
BYD has announced the introduction of a Level 4 (L4) autonomous parking function in its proprietary God's Eye driver assistance system. An unusual bonus was the promise of compensation if the car parker does fail and damage property.
Here's What We Know
The update will be available via OTA channel for God's Eye B and C systems, which are used in most BYD models, from flagships to low-cost electric cars. As noted in the company's Weibo post, we're talking about scenarios where the car performs a manoeuvre completely on its own, without driver input.
BYD calls itself the first company to offer an official warranty for autonomous parking. The company has promised to cover all repair costs, third-party damage and possible bodily injury caused by system failures or algorithm errors.
The God's Eye system was introduced in February 2025 and is gradually being introduced in all current BYD models, including the budget Seagull, which starts at around $10,000 in China. There are now more than 1 million cars with God's Eye already on the road.
In addition to parking, God's Eye supports driver-controlled automated driving on motorways. BYD promises a major update to the system in the near future that will improve not only parking functions but also overall driving safety.
