Unveiled 20 minutes of Ghost of Yōtei gameplay: Sony reveals interesting details about the new PS5 exclusive
Sony and studio Sucker Punch held a detailed gameplay demonstration of the ambitious action game Ghost of Yōtei, where they revealed its main features.
Here's What We Know
To begin with, the authors reminded that the events of the new game unfold 300 years after the final Ghost of Tsushima, and the protagonist of the game is a warrior Atsu, who set her goal to take revenge on the "six of Yōtei" (Yōtei). This gang brutally murdered the girl's entire family, and now the heroine will stop at nothing to take revenge on them.
Players will find themselves on the large island of Ezo and will be given a huge amount of freedom of action. The open world is built in such a way that gamers will be able to go where they want from the very beginning, and the antagonists can be dealt with randomly.
Atsu will be able to interrogate defeated enemies and gain valuable information from them about which places to visit to find things of interest.
Ghost of Yōtei will feature an extensive arsenal of weapons, and while the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima was armed only with a katana and a tanto dagger, Atsu has access to a katana, spear, kusarigama (a sickle with a sinker hanging from a chain), odachi (a long sword) and paired blades.
The girl is not constrained by the Bushido code, so the authors advise not to neglect dirty tricks and sneak up on enemies when there is such an opportunity, as they will definitely have no moral constraints and will use all available means.
By the way, Atsu will also have ranged weapons - bow and tanegashima firearms.
Sometimes a wolf will come to the heroine's aid. Between battles, the heroine will be able to camp to rest, tidy up her equipment, and talk to her allies.
The game features authentic music, advanced photo mode, high quality Japanese voice acting and black and white mode, which will make Ghost of Yōtei look like famous samurai films by Akira Kurosawa.
When We Can Expect It
Ghost of Yōtei will release on 2 October exclusively on PlayStation 5.
