Recently, Chinese manufacturers, not burdened by excessive regulatory authorities, have been producing smartphones that set records for battery thickness or volume. But it seems that Samsung has found the strength to push the progress further.

The tech enthusiast PhoneArt collected all the current folding smartphones and found that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 managed to beat the competition. Xiaomi MIX Fold4, OPPO Find N5, Vivo X Fold5, Honor Magic V5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 took part in the comparison.

For the purity of the experiment, an electronic caliper was also used, which showed a 0.16 mm advantage for Samsung - 8.79 mm versus 8.95 mm.

According to the specifications, the Galaxy Fold7 is 8.9 mm thick when folded (without the cameras protruding). The official thickness of Oppo Find N5 is also 8.9 mm. Honor Magic V5 has a declared thickness of 9 mm.

In fact, a tenth of a millimetre will not be critical for the buyer. This event is significant because a big company like Samsung feels confident enough to set records in the industry after the Galaxy Note7 story. The king is dead, long live the king!
