LG Electronics has announced that its webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP) multimedia platform will be used in new Kia models in the European market. The first vehicle with ACP will be the recently introduced EV3 electric crossover. In the future, the platform will appear in other models - EV4, EV5 and updated Sportage.

Here's What We Know

Previously webOS ACP has already been used in Kia cars in South Korea, now LG is expanding its geographical presence.

The ACP platform is based on the webOS operating system, which is used in more than 240 million LG smart TVs worldwide. The automotive version of the system is optimised for use in vehicles and offers passengers access to a wide range of content and digital services.

As part of LG's AlphaWare software-defined vehicle (SDV) architecture, the platform turns the car interior into a "mobile living space". The driver and passengers can watch streaming video and use other multimedia functions via the standard display, while respecting all safety requirements - playback is only possible when the vehicle is stationary.

The list of supported services includes Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, LG Channels, Baby Shark World, Stingray Karaoke, Play.Works, Haystack News and Vasari. They will be joined later this year by Rakuten TV, Napster and German OTT platform Joyn.
