338bhp and all-wheel drive: Subaru has officially unveiled the Uncharted electric crossover SUV
Subaru is expanding its electric vehicle lineup. A new compact crossover Uncharted, which is the result of a mutation of the electric Toyota C-HR, has debuted in the US. In the hierarchy of the brand, the new model is positioned a step below the Solterra.
Here's What We Know
The main feature is all-wheel drive: two versions - Sport and GT - are equipped with Symmetrical AWD system and develop 338 hp. From a place to 97 km/h (60 mph) such Uncharted accelerates in 5 seconds.
But there is also an unusual offer for Subaru - front-wheel drive Uncharted Premium. It is equipped with a single 221 hp electric motor and, according to Subaru, can travel more than 483 kilometres on a single charge. Although even Subaru itself expects that sales of such a modification will be limited.
All versions get the same battery with a capacity of 74.7 kWh. All-wheel drive models have a slightly smaller range - about 467 kilometres. Fast charging with a capacity of up to 150 kW is supported: from 10 to 80 per cent of the battery is charged in about 30 minutes. There is also an in-built 11kW charger and a battery preheating system. In the US, the model has a NACS port compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.
Despite sharing a common chassis with the C-HR e-TNGA, the Uncharted has a more "off-road" appearance: aggressive bumpers, original headlights and taillights, 18- or 20-inch wheels, and roof rails in the base. There is an X-Mode mode for driving on difficult surfaces.
The interior is with a 14-inch vertical screen and a digital dashboard. Reminiscent of Toyota, but Subaru has its own equipment design. Sport version has a heated steering wheel, upholstery with moisture protection and all-round vision system. The GT has a panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, digital rearview mirror and Harman Kardon audio system.
Pricing hasn't been announced yet, most likely Subaru costs will be on par with the electric Toyota. The Uncharted will be a more compact and dynamic alternative to the Solterra and other large electric-powered crossovers.
