Warframe is one of the most successful hits among service games, which has been developing steadily for more than a decade. However, the developer Digital Extremes cannot release an improved version of this RPG shooter for Switch 2 because Nintendo has not yet sent the studio the dev kits.

Here's What We Know

During the recent TennoCon conference, Digital Extremes CEO and Soulframe project manager Steve Sinclair said: "Our technical team is very excited to be able to leverage the Switch 2's high-speed cores and other really cool features."

The developers of Digital Extremes are looking forward to starting porting the game, but for some reason, Nintendo has not yet sent the developers a dev kit for the console.

Sinclair also stressed that Nintendo's updated hardware will allow Warframe to run with reduced load times and other improvements, but obviously, development cannot begin right now. "So, if you know anyone..." he added jokingly, hinting at the desire to get the necessary hardware as soon as possible.

For now, the massive sci-fi hit remains fully playable on Switch 2 thanks to backwards compatibility. However, it doesn't yet take advantage of the portable console's capabilities or its improved technology. We'll just have to wait for a dedicated port before we see any of these improvements.
