Ukrainian company Odd Systems and Denmark's largest defence concern Terma A/S have announced a strategic partnership to create a low-cost autonomous drone interceptor based on artificial intelligence.

Here's What We Know

The project aims to increase the ability of European countries to respond to new types of air threats, including FPV drones, barrage munitions and fixed-wing drones.

Odd Systems brings its expertise in developing drones and thermal imaging solutions that have been tested in real-world combat environments. Terma brings system integration, radar technology and engineering infrastructure accumulated over decades of experience in the defence industry. The goal of the collaboration is to develop an adaptive, cost-effective drone intercept platform that will meet the demands of the modern battlefield.

Yaroslav Azhniuk, co-founder of Odd Systems, said he looks forward to the development of a reliable autonomous interceptor platform and that the cooperation between the Ukrainian and EU teams is crucial for the future of European security. Philippe Rensch-Jacobsen, Vice President of Terma Group, added that Odd Systems' platforms have proven their effectiveness in extreme conditions, and now the companies are combining Ukraine's combat experience with advanced Western technologies.

Odd Systems is a young Ukrainian company founded in 2023, known for its Gorska-12, Stus-7, Lupinis-10 FPV drones and Kurbas thermal imaging cameras. The names of their products honour Ukrainian intellectuals and artists of the 20th century.

And Terma A/S is a leading Danish manufacturer of avionics, radar and defence systems with more than 2000 employees worldwide. The company is actively working on security in the space, air and maritime domains.

The joint project is an example of a new format of cooperation between Ukrainian and European defence companies that allows them to quickly create effective solutions adapted to hybrid warfare. It also contributes to strengthening Europe's strategic autonomy in the defence sector and developing Ukraine's technological sovereignty.

The future interceptor drone should become a versatile, fast, autonomous and cheap tool to counter enemy UAVs of various types - from tactical Mavic to Iranian Shahed.
